What's new

PhoneFerry updates itself. Each release is listed here with what it changed.

Last updated 25 October 2026. Written by BlackBox Tools, the maker of PhoneFerry.

0.1.2 October 2026

  • The taskbar and window icon are the PhoneFerry mark on every screen.
  • The drop hint goes away when a drag leaves the window.
  • The updater moves every earlier install to this version on its next launch.

0.1.1 October 2026

  • Android phones: photos, videos and files over the cable; messages, contacts, call log and calendar once USB debugging is switched on, group threads named by their members; WhatsApp archives saved to the PC as files and its media folder one click away in Files; thumbnails load in the background so the grid stays quick.
  • Files onto the iPhone: drag them from Explorer into any app listed under On My iPhone.
  • Call history and Safari history: Read call history turns backup encryption on for the read and off again after.
  • Select several conversations and export them at once. The size of a photo or file selection shows next to Copy.
  • PhoneFerry opens by itself when a phone is plugged in; a switch in the Licence sheet turns that off.
  • Help link in the sidebar; the window minimises like a Mac window.

0.1.0 First release

  • Photos and videos: camera roll, albums, Shared Albums, favorites, hidden and Recently Deleted; Live Photos copied as still plus video; HEIC to JPG with EXIF and GPS kept.
  • Files on the phone, browse and copy.
  • Music: songs and playlists, exported as CSV and M3U with the files.
  • Messages, WhatsApp and LINE conversations with attachments, exported as HTML and text.
  • Contacts (vCard), notes (text files), reminders (CSV), calendar (.ics) and Safari bookmarks (HTML). Call history and Safari history travel only in encrypted backups, which this release does not read yet.
  • Voicemail and voice memos, played in the app and saved as audio.
  • Move and Delete: delete photos from the phone only after the PC copy is checked byte for byte.
  • A library read that continues on its own after a cable drop.
  • Free trial of 100 items, then one licence for two PCs.
